Utility patent application number – 202421036032

In this project, we have implemented a reliable underwater communication system with the help of Arduino, flex sensors and IR sensors. The objective of the scuba communication system is to make underwater communication simpler and more practicable at greater distances than are visible underwater. Divers frequently face the dilemma of learning signals and wasting time in dives to communicate. Signs for scuba diving are monotonous and frequently fail to convey the intended information. In addition, scuba signs as they currently exist are imperfect and lack vital information that could often mean life or death.

The scuba communication device facilitates underwater communication by incorporating a glove into diving gloves, which displays the message a fellow diver may be attempting to convey. The system uses 5 flex sensors and a 6-axis IMU to determine precisely what sign the user is displaying. Since the system is meant for scuba diving the glove has also been water-proofed to prevent water from destroying the electronics. Using an IR sensor and receiver, an Arduino Nano is utilized for processing and transmitting data. The system is a significant improvement over the decades-old methods of underwater communication.
