About Jayveer

I am Jayveer Kochhar, a student researcher and engineer driven by a strong interest in applied mathematics, physics, and technology, and how they can be used to solve real world problems. My work spans data driven modeling, engineering design, and scientific research, including projects in satellite based ocean dynamics, wearable healthcare diagnostics, robotics, and algorithm development.

I enjoy connecting theory with practice, from deriving models and analyzing complex data to building functional prototypes and writing robust, reproducible code. Alongside research, I am actively involved in competitive robotics, mentorship, and leadership, and I value collaboration, rigor, and impact, with a focus on creating solutions that are both innovative and meaningful.

Recognition / Highlights

Interaction with MLAs Amit Satam and Aslam Shaikh

While working on my project Restrain Your Bamboo Spine, I had the opportunity to demonstrate my prototype and conduct trial testing with two MLAs in and around my locality. They were very appreciative of my work and encouraged me to take the project forward. They also permitted testing in municipal hospitals under their jurisdiction, which helped me refine and improve the prototype. Subsequently, I received a patent for the product. I am now seeking funding to bring it to market for the benefit of society.

Presentation to the Minister of State for Science and Technology

After my project was selected among the Top 20 at IRIS 2024, I was invited to Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, where I presented and discussed my project Restrain Your Bamboo Spine with eminent dignitaries. These included Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Science and Technology in the Prime Minister’s Office; Prof. Abhay Kumar Sood, Advisor to the Minister; and Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. This interaction took place on National Science Day, February 28, 2024.

Diana Award Recognition and Letter from Prince William

I received an appreciation letter from Prince William, Prince of Wales, in recognition of my work and service.

As a Diana Award recipient, my project BreatheFree focuses on improving healthcare in India, particularly for marginalized communities. The device monitors breathing patterns to detect spinal and respiratory problems at an early stage, conditions that are major contributors to disability among disadvantaged populations.

By enabling early detection, the device helps protect both health and livelihoods. I collaborated with healthcare experts and institutions to test the device on 84 individuals and aim to refine it into an economical, accessible, and user-friendly diagnostic tool. Supported by a provisional patent, BreatheFree has the potential to significantly improve health outcomes while enhancing the social and economic well-being of vulnerable communities.

Recognition by Mrs. Nita Ambani

I was appreciated and applauded by Mrs. Nita Ambani for winning at the Initiative for Research & Innovation in STEM National Fair 2025. This recognition was announced during the Annual Day celebration at Dhirubhai Ambani International School. It was a privilege to receive encouragement from the Chairperson of the school.

Interaction with Dr. T. S. Rao, Former Tata Hospital Scientist

At the IRIS National Fair held at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi, in January 2025, I had the opportunity to interact with Dr. T. S. Rao, a former scientist at Tata Hospital, regarding my project RespiraScan. He appreciated the work and provided valuable suggestions for further improvement.

Internship with Mrs. Tanvi Sete Jindal — Museum of Solutions

I had the privilege of working with Mrs. Tanvi Sete Jindal during the inception of India’s first Children’s Museum, the Museum of Solutions.

Gold Award Presented by the Education Minister of Gujarat

I was awarded a Gold Medal at the IRIS National Fair 2026, held at Adani International School, Ahmedabad, by Smt. Rivaba Jadeja, Education Minister of Gujarat, along with Smt. Namrata Adani, for my project.

Insights from Dr George Yancopoulus

During the International Science & Engineering Fair 2025 held in Columbus, Ohio, I gained valuable insights from Dr. George Yancopoulos, Co-Founder of Regeneron Pharmaceuticals. His guidance and perspectives on innovation and scientific research were truly inspiring and provided a deeper understanding of the impact that science and engineering can have on improving lives.
